HPE DL160 Gen10 Base Knowledge
HPE Gen10 DL160 is a 2 Socket 16 DDR4 DIMM server that can support LFF and SFF Drives. With two chassis options to choose from you can surely get the desired configuration you need for your system at a great price. The 8 SFF with optional support for an additional 2 SFF SAS/SATA HDD/SSD can also swap the Additional 2SFF for an Optical Disk Drive (ODD). To install the ODD, you will need the HPE 1U Gen10 8SFF Optical Disk Drive Enablement Kit (873961-B21). If you want to install the additional 2SFF you will need the HPE 1U Gen10 2SFF SAS/SATA FIO Enablement Kit without Cables (881179-B21). Cables can be found in the cable section of the CTO.
The 2 Socket DL160 Gen10 Rack Server supports the Intel Xeon Gen1 and Gen2 Processors. The memory speed will be based on the CPU you install. The mixing of processors is not supported. The mixing of RDIMM and LRDIMM memory is not supported and the DL160 can support up to 16 DIMMs on a Dual Socket configuration.

The DL160 comes with an Embedded 14-port S100i Storage Controller. HPE Smart Array S100i SR Gen10 SW RAID will operate in UEFI mode only. For legacy support an additional controller will be needed. HPE Smart Array S100i SR Gen10 SW RAID is off by default and must be enabled with the HPE Enable Smart Array SW RAID (784308-B21).
This Rack Server supports Type-A Smart Array Controllers. When installing this type of controller, the secondary PCI riser can’t be installed. If you install a Performance Smart Array in the DL160 Gen10 Rack server. You will need to install the HPE 96W Smart Storage Lithium-ion Battery with a 145mm Cable Kit (P01366-B21). Which Supports up to 6 P-class Smart Array controllers. The HPE Smart Storage Hybrid Capacitor with 145mm Cable Kit (P02377-B21) is the other option and it supports up to 3 P-class Smart Array controllers.

HPE DL160 Gen10 M.2 Drives
If you want to install M.2 Drives you will need the HPE Universal SATA 6G AIC HHHL M.2 SSD Enablement Kit (878783-B21) as well as the HPE DL160 Gen10 SATA M.2 Cable Kit (866456-B21). The M.2 Stand-up card can be installed in any PCI slot. If installed in Slot 3 with the Second CPU installed, you will need to use the longer cable to reach it.
HPE DL160 Gen10 PCI Risers
The DL160 Gen10 has 3 PCIe slots with slots 1 and 2 on a Butterfly Riser with two different Riser Card options. While the 3rd PCIe slot is a low-profile Riser that requires a second Processor. If you installed if type-a modular smart array controller you are not able to install the second PCIe Riser. The Type-a smart array takes up the same section of the 1U Rack Server.

When installing a Processor, it will come with 3 Fans and 1 Heatsink. The system has a fan redundancy configuration when you install the redundant fan kit (866438-B21) includes 1 fan for redundancy.

- 2 CPUs – Includes 6 standard fans, 7 fans with the addition of redundant fan kit
HPE DL160 Gen10 GPU / Workload Accelerator
There is no support for any Accelerator or Graphics Card.
HPE DL160 Gen10 Flex Slot your power!
HPE Flexible Slot (Flex Slot) Power Supplies share a common electrical and physical design that allows for hot plug, tool-less installation into HPE ProLiant Gen10 Performance Servers. Flex Slot power supplies are certified for high-efficiency operation and offer multiple power output options, allowing users to "right-size" a power supply for specific server configurations. This flexibility helps to reduce power waste, lower overall energy costs, and avoid "trapped" power capacity in the data center.
HPE DL160/180 Gen10 Redundant Power Supply Enablement Kit (866442-B21) is required with the selection of a power supply.

Do you want an HPE 1U Gen10 Bezel Kit (867998-B21) or a HPE Bezel Lock Kit (875519-B21). If you want a bezel kit you will need to install the HPE DL160 Gen10 FIO Quick Release Ear Kit (872987-B21).
Under the type-a controller and the Secondary PCIe riser is a slot for the serial port. By adding the HPE Rear Serial Port and Enablement Kit (764646-B21) your server will now feature a serial port in the rear of the chassis.
This Media Module adapter is new to the DL160 Gen10. Only one can be installed and this Media Module allows the server to support 2 more 1Gb or 10Gb ports. The best part about this added feature is that it does not take up a PCIe slot.
The Cable kits need to be looked at closely. If you install the additional 2SFF drives on the 8SFF Chassis. You must also choose the right cable kit based on what controller you’re using. If you use the S100i Controller, you will need the HPE DL160 Gen10 2SFF Embedded SATA Controller Cable Kit (881181-B21). If you have a Flexible Type-a or PCIe Smart Array controller you will need the HPE DL160 Gen10 2SFF Smart Array SAS FIO Cable Kit (881183-B21).
